A FBISE registration number is the official student identification number issued by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), Islamabad to every student who is registered to appear in FBISE board examinations. This number is essential for sitting board exams, receiving results, and obtaining your official FBISE certificate.
For overseas Pakistani students living in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and other countries, getting a FBISE registration number works through a slightly different process than for students inside Pakistan. This guide explains exactly how it works.
• Students enrolled in FBISE Matric (Grade 9 and Grade 10 / SSC Part 1 and Part 2).
• Students enrolled in FSc Intermediate (Grade 11 and Grade 12 / HSSC Part 1 and Part 2).
• Both Science and Arts stream students under FBISE.
Students doing Cambridge O-Level or A-Level do NOT use FBISE registration. They are registered separately with Cambridge Assessment International Education through their school.
The good news is that overseas Pakistani students do not need to handle FBISE registration themselves. This is the responsibility of your FBISE-affiliated school. Here is how the process works step by step:
• Step 1 — Enroll at an FBISE-affiliated school. Lumina Global School is officially affiliated with FBISE, which means we are authorised to register students for FBISE board examinations.
• Step 2 — Provide your documents to the school. These typically include your child's previous school certificate (for Matric students: Grade 8 completion certificate; for FSc students: Matric certificate), B-Form or CNIC, passport copy, and passport-size photographs.
• Step 3 — The school submits your registration to FBISE. Lumina Global School submits all student registration data to FBISE on your behalf through the official overseas student registration system.
• Step 4 — FBISE issues the registration number. Once FBISE processes the registration, your child receives an official FBISE roll number. This roll number is used for all board examination purposes.
• Step 5 — Exam centre allocation. FBISE assigns your child to an official overseas examination centre, which for Gulf countries is located at the Pakistan Embassy or Consulate in your country.
• Step 6 — Admit card issuance. Before examinations, FBISE issues an admit card (roll number slip) to the student through the school. This card must be brought to the examination centre on exam day.
• Previous academic certificate (Grade 8 completion for Matric; Matric certificate for FSc).
• Copy of B-Form (for students under 18) or CNIC (for students 18 and above).
• Copy of passport (biographical data page).
• Two recent passport-size photographs with white background.
• Any other documents requested by the school or FBISE at the time of registration.
FBISE conducts overseas examinations through official centres at Pakistani diplomatic missions:
• Saudi Arabia — Pakistan Embassy Riyadh, Pakistan Consulate Jeddah, Pakistan Consulate Dammam.
• UAE — Pakistan Embassy Abu Dhabi, Pakistan Consulate Dubai.
• Qatar — Pakistan Embassy Doha.
• Kuwait — Pakistan Embassy Kuwait City.
• Oman — Pakistan Embassy Muscat.
• Bahrain — Pakistan Embassy Manama.
FBISE registration deadlines for overseas students are typically announced several months before the examination date. For the annual May/June examination session, registration usually closes in January or February. Lumina Global School monitors all FBISE deadlines and ensures every student is registered well in advance. You do not need to track these deadlines yourself.
A: No. FBISE requires overseas students to be registered through an officially FBISE-affiliated school. Individual direct registration is not available for school-level examinations.
A: Late registration may be possible with a late fee, but it is not guaranteed. Enrolling early and working with a school that manages deadlines carefully is the best protection against missing registration.
A: Yes. The FBISE SSC and HSSC certificates are identical whether the student studied in Pakistan or abroad. There is no distinction on the certificate.
A: The process typically takes 4 to 8 weeks from submission of documents to issuance of the roll number. Lumina Global School begins the registration process well in advance to ensure timely completion.
