FSc stands for Faculty of Science, also commonly called Intermediate. FSc Pre-Medical is the two-year Intermediate programme (Grades 11 and 12) offered under the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) for students who want to pursue medicine, dentistry, or health sciences after school.
FSc Pre-Medical is the essential qualification required to appear in MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) in Pakistan, which is the gateway to MBBS and BDS programmes at government and private medical colleges across Pakistan.
FSc Pre-Medical has a fixed set of compulsory and elective subjects:
Compulsory Subjects (all students must take these):
• English — Both years, Part 1 and Part 2.
• Urdu or Islamiyat — Depending on the student's previous qualification.
• Pakistan Studies — Part 1 only.
Elective Subjects (the three core Pre-Medical subjects):
• Biology — The most important subject for medical students. Covers cell biology, genetics, human physiology, ecology, and more.
• Chemistry — Organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry. Directly tested in MDCAT.
• Physics — Mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity, and modern physics. Also tested in MDCAT.
Mathematics is NOT part of FSc Pre-Medical. Students who want to keep engineering as a backup option should be aware of this and plan accordingly.
• MDCAT Requirement — FSc Pre-Medical is mandatory for MDCAT. There is no alternative for Pakistani medical college admission.
• Continuity After Matric — Students who completed FBISE Matric online naturally continue to FSc Pre-Medical with the same school.
• No Need to Return to Pakistan — Parents can keep their children in the Gulf while they complete their FSc, returning only for board exams.

FBISE conducts FSc Part 1 (Grade 11) and Part 2 (Grade 12) examinations at official overseas exam centres located at Pakistani Embassies and Consulates in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain. Your school registers you with FBISE as an overseas student and handles all coordination.
After completing FSc Pre-Medical, your child can appear in MDCAT whether they are in Pakistan or abroad. MDCAT is conducted annually by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). Your child will need to return to Pakistan to sit for MDCAT and, if successful, attend medical college in Pakistan.
